Shadu Rasjidi Band and Groovy Jazz
After performance of Balawan and Didiet at Salihara Jazz Buzz Festival last week, second week of Salihara Jazz Buzz presented Shadu Rasjidi Band. Shadu Rasidji is the son of jazz musician Idang Rasdiji. Born on July 19, 1989, he had musical talent from his father. "I thank to my father, Idang Rasjidi as my mentor, mentor of life and mentor of music," he said in the opening of his concert on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Theatre Salihara. He also thanked to his mother who always fill up his needs. "I still borrow her money to rent the studio for practice," he said.
Together with his relatives and friends, he formed Shadu Rasjidi Band, a group of young jazz musician. Shadu Rasjidi on bass, Shaku Rasjidi on drums, Fanny Kuncoro no keyboard, Ayla Noor Iman Adjie on percussion, Fabion Haryo Ajie on sax and Indra Meaning Dauna on trumpet. Shadu has performed at various jazz festivals at domestic and international. Recently, he played at World Youth Jazz Festival in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
That night at the Theatre of Salihara, Shadu Rasjidi Band performed a fresh and groovy jazz music. The stage set simply with lovely lighting. They entertained the audience, mostly jazz music lovers, with the style of young people. 5 songs were performed nicely and energetic. The works of his father, Idang Rasjidi, successfully explored creatively and fresh. For instance, “Bad News for The World” was played in slow and high beat. Exploration on saxophone and bass, trumpet and bass, drum and bass, and bass guitar, keyboard and bass were amazed the audience.
Shadu’s creation which performed was Buitenzorg and Nobarrier. "Buitenzorg means Bogor and I was made this composition in Bogor, where I live," he explained before played that composition. At the end of the show, the audience was asked he and his band to perform more. Finally, one more song played and Shadu asked his father, Idang Rasjidi, to play together on stage. That duo father and son performance was awesome. Idang Rasjidi played the keyboard masterly and Shadu played bass offset the greatness of his father.
