Recommended by Lakmi Pamuntjak on her book, Jakarta Good Food Guide (2008-2009), Penang Bistro is one of restaurant served peranakan style. Peranakan means combination of Melayu dan Chinese cuisines. In Jakarta, Penang Bistro located on Jln Pakubuwono VI No.2, Plaza Pondok Indah 2, and Jln. Kebun Sirih Raya No. 59.
So, on a particular night, I invite Abang to eat there. We went to Penang Bistro on Jln. Kebun Sirih. The restaurant boast a full-wall waterfall and interior garden. There are also a roof top dinning in the 3rd floor. We sat in main dining on 1st floor where the garden view is in another side. For the appetizer, we choose roti canai with beef curry and tom yam soup. The Roti Canai was incredible: crispy and tasty. And beef curry such as good combination. We choose Singapore chili crab for main dishes. Small crab with garlic and chili taste. Not as good as chili crab in Singapore. In here, the taste transform more Indonesian. Langkawi tea fantasi and ambula juice were fresh choice for drink. Langkawi tea fantasy consist of tea, monin rose, monin hazelnut and lemon juice. While ambula juice is
kedondong juice. During dinner, there are a live piano-singing love songs which give the atmosphere romantic. I called that dinner very-nice-dinning, instead of fine dinning because we wear smart casual outfit and ride motorcycle.
